The Alter Ego: Cre8tive Mojo!

My accountant asked me what is Cre8tive Mojo? It's weird, because I have never been asked that before. Well, Cre8tive Mojo is my alter ego. It all started when I was about 11, I realized I had an alter ego. I was sitting in class daydreaming, and my teacher told us to write a poem for home work.

I came back the next day with this poem that seemed rather deep. My teacher said that it was beautiful poem, and surprisingly, quite deep for a 11 year old to write. I remember thinking, well if you only knew how much I needed to write this, you would understand. I have always kept a journal since I was a kid.

Randomly, my cousin's x-boyfriend also liked to write. Sometimes, we would go back and forth rhyming. He gave me the name "Mojo" instead of "Manju", which is my nickname. I thought it was funny at that time, so I decided I would be called Mojo. Then, of course, years went by and I forgot about it all.

After moving to Jersey City this past September, my alter- ego is slowly been taking over me. It's hard to describe really. The day I chopped off all my hair, I knew things weren't going to be the same. Then, my clothing choices changed, I went for more edgier pieces.

Now, instead of shoving Cre8tive Mojo back into the box for months, I have accepted that I am both Mandeep & Cre8tive Mojo. One side of me will always be edgy, attention-seeking, creative, unconventional, while the other side will be more conservative, family orientated & down to earth.

My alter-ego Cre8tive Mojo helps me break out of my comfort-zone. She makes me realize that there is so much more to life. When I am her, I feel hopeful, couragous and more my authentic self.
