I never thought I would escape to Grenada and come back with a Puppy. This is my life---truly unpredictable. While on the plane, I suffered from Altitude sickness so bad, I was shaking. The Airline Hostess kept asking me if I came here alone. I told them I am a solo traveller, this is how I roll. I arrived in Grenada a mess. Vulnerability is not my style. Yet, there I was alone, in tears on the plane. I wanted the plane to turn back home, but it just kept on going.

Once I arrived, everyone and their mom seem to be giving me their Whats App digits. It started with the customs lady who had a full on mustache, didn't seem to be into men. Then, when I went to the bank to exchange my American dollar, the bank clerk added 5 extra EC dollars for me, and his number on the back slip. Afterwards, I got to my AIR BNB. My accommodations seem to be in a remote part of Grenada, next to a secluded beach. Something seemed OFF in the most craziest way since I got there. The people were very friendly, almost to the point of intrigue.

I used the local bus which was cheaper, resembling more like a small van that fit 10 people, and played 90's hiphop music, while pulling random people in from the side of the street as it drove way over the speed limit. IT seemed more like a getaway car, than a local bus. The locals shared the same sexual innuendoes humor---where I heard a lady describe how she loved her white bread long on the ride home. The FRENCH had taken over Grenada in the past, and the same flirtatious low key vibe seem to cover the country.

THE RUM PUNCH, was something else. 1 drink down and I was tipsy! It was more than 100 proof, such a vibe. Known to be one of the safest Caribbean island with no crime, and having some of the MOST friendliest people I have met, I started to feel at home in my AIR BNB. I decided to go to the grocery store to pick up some eggs, and stuff for the place. Once I got to the hole in the wall place, the cashier told me that they do not have milk----only boxed soy milk or condensed milk. a man in the back kept yelling to her that he wanted to throw his puppy in the water, because he couldn't keep her, over and over again. I tried my best to ignore what he was saying, but he kept repeating it to the point where, I went outside to find a trembling puppy hanging onto the side of the wall on the floor. I picked her up, and she was filled with fleas and ticks. I held her, but she kept on trembling with fear every time he said he would throw her into the water. Eventually, she stopped shaking, and put her head in between my chest. I looked down, and our eyes met. She had these almond brown eyes, tears formed in my eyes. I just couldn't let her go.

He said I should take her with me. A smile came across his face, as he realized he found her a new owner. Soon-after he left, disappearing over the hill. I kept her in my arms and walked her home to my air bnb. She hid behind the toilet, and laid in my cloths I dropped on the floor. At night, I picked her up, and held her. She was still trembling in her sleep. It took her so long to calm down, till she slept. Love is a crazy thing.....and Grenada was even crazier...

Eventually, I packed her up and we went on a ferry ride to Carricou, an island only reached by boat.....
