I miss the way social media use to make me feel: CONNECTED. I have gone on to Facebook, Instagram & snap-chat to post and view for a short amount of time. This weekend I had an Indian wedding, birthday party, band show and work...Basically, prime selfie-time! I thought it would be fun give myself alittle break from unplugging to document and post! When it came down to it, I realized I changed. The truth is I am no longer feeling it anymore.
Remember when you broke up with someone and try to go back to them after a few weeks? it's not the same. I reminiscence the way I felt scrolling my news-feed, watching all the people go on vacation, get married and have babies. I would "LIKE"y from the distance of my computer screen and give congrats. Now, it all seems like a planned out facade of carefully manipulated images, thoughts and sentences which HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH MY GOALS IN LIFE.
This is what lead me to my most important question: Why do we care so much about upholding our acquaintance status and share precious memories with strangers? Why do we feel the need to let random people in of our private moments? Do we really care what they think? Why do we use social media?
LONELINESS.
WE DO NOT WANT TO FEEL ALONE OR FEEL OUT OF THE LOPE.
It is like hightschool, when you couldn't handle not showcasing your most newest shirt. However, it can also be a platform to create needed change in this world. Social Media is what you want it to be. Choose wisely.
